The
purpose of life The
NOD defines ‘purpose’ as: the reason for which something is done or created
or for which something exists. The word is derived from the French proposer,
which in turn is derived from the Latin proponere,
meaning ‘propose’, meaning ‘put or set forth’. Hence ‘purpose’ essentially
means: proposition. “The
purpose (i.e. proposition) of life is (i.e. appears to be) to survive.” The (blind) survival function drives
life.* The driver seeks (within any
situation) the means to its fulfilment. My whole world, that is to say, I
myself and the territory (or world) I operate in (to wit, the set of
conditions in which I operate), represents all my previous survival attempts.
Happiness, unhappiness
and waiting at rest are Guide &
Control signals (i.e. or symptoms) that tell me (and others) how well, badly
or at par I’m fulfilling the basic purpose of life in my current sub-world
and therefore in my whole world. In short, happiness,
unhappiness and waiting at rest are
not the purpose (hence driver) of life but merely Guide & Control
feedback indicators (i.e. signals or symptoms) highlighting current changes
in relative survival capacity. *… The purpose
of a car is to drive (i.e. transport). The purpose is blind to all destinations.
So the purpose of life is a blind driver. The Guide &
